Your information on Chita

Version 2026-09. Written to be read, not skimmed.

What we collect, and why

Everyone: your name, mobile number, email, city and how you get around. We need these to create your account, to let the other side of a task reach you once you have agreed to work together, and to show you tasks near you.

Taskers only: a photo of your NRC (front, and back if you add it), a live selfie, your NRC number, and optionally a police clearance and a short intro video. This is how we check that you are who you say you are before a client lets you into their home. It is the whole reason clients trust Chita, and there is no version of Chita without it.

When you use it: the tasks you post or take, offers, messages, reviews, photos of items on shopping runs, and, only if you choose to share it, your location during a task.

Who can see what

  • Your NRC photos, selfie and NRC number are seen by the Chita review team and nobody else. Not clients, not other taskers. They are stored in a private bucket that the app cannot show to anyone but an admin, and that rule is enforced by the database, not just by the screen.
  • Your name, photo, rating, skills and area are public on your tasker profile, so clients can choose you.
  • Your phone number is shown only to the other party in a task, and only once you have agreed to work together.
  • Your exact address or pin is shown only to the tasker assigned to that task. Everyone else sees an approximate area roughly two kilometres wide.
  • Messages are visible to the two people in the conversation, and to the review team if either of you reports the other.

Where it is stored

On servers run by Supabase in Ireland (the European Union), and the website is served by Vercel. That means your information leaves Zambia. Both companies are bound by contracts that stop them using it for anything except running Chita. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or hand it to anyone who asks without a lawful reason.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. Delete your account and it all goes, including the NRC photos and selfie, within minutes. Backups roll over within 30 days.

Your choices

  • See it: everything we hold on you is visible in your Profile and your task history.
  • Fix it: edit your Profile at any time.
  • Delete it: Profile, then Delete my account. You type the word, it goes.
  • Ask us: WhatsApp +260 97 987 5211. A person answers.
